A Simple DIY Sour Cream and Olive Oil Hair Mask

With the dry winter air drying up your hair and the weather being so coarse it needs a little extra care. Using bought store products are always handy, but you can just reach into your kitchen for two simple ingredients to create a hair mask. This simple hair mask takes two ingredients and is simple to apply. It will help repair and nourish your strands and leave them looking shiny, healthy and ready for that beautiful hair do. Extra Virgin Olive Oil & Sour Cream Hair Mask: Sour cream is very rich and is perfect for the dry hair demanding restoration; it works wonders as it smooths out and saturates the hair with nutrients. Olive oil adds weight and moisture to the hair, Rich in vitamins A, E and antioxidants, olive oil helps protect the keratin in hair and seals in moisture.


  • 1/2 cup of Sour Cream oil

  • 2 tbsp. of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (where to buy)

Start by gathering all your ingredients together. Make sure to have an old shirt or towel to help with the mess if you will not be in the shower.


  1. Combine sour cream and olive oil in a small bowl and mix well with a spoon

  2. Apply the mixture to your hair by dividing it into four sections, focusing on the ends

  3. Wrap hair in a bun on top of your head or two strand twist each section of hair, cover with a disposable shower cap and leave on for 20 minutes to 1 hour (depending on how damaged your hair is)

  4. Rinse out in the shower or your sink

  5. Shampoo and condition making sure all the mask is wash out

  6. Now apply your leave in conditioner and styling products and style your hair as usual
